Las Vegas Cocktails & Casino Stories

Casino life. The glitz, glamour, and fast life of “Sin City” has mesmerized and attracted people to Las Vegas from all over the world! Off The Strip, life is just as scandalous. Bet On You: Las Vegas Cocktail & Casino Stories showcases the exciting life on and off the gaming floor told from a 30-year veteran casino cocktail waitress.

About The Book

Casino life, the knowledge of Las Vegas, and the curiosity about the people living in Las Vegas have mesmerized worldwide tourists for many years. Gambling has been a part of Nevada’s Wild West long before this “Silver State” joined the United States of America in 1864; yet, gambling only became legal in Nevada in 1931.

In the Bet on You series of books written by Phyllis Carver, an array of stories unfold to address the many curiosities about Las Vegas, Nevada, through the very busy lives of a young happily married couple, Cece and Ian. The stories are individually unique, captivating, and unbelievably surreal in the couple’s young lives beginning with their fun teenage days in the wild 1960s, to their vibrant wedding just before Ian went off to Vietnam, and throughout their tight-knit family life. Or was it so tight-knit?

The stories within contain love, traumas, as well as possible lingering hidden triangles. All the mystery and excitement one would expect to take place in our nation’s “forbidden city.”

Sit back, enjoy, and marvel at what Phyllis reveals.

“What an intriguing story, rising up from the fascinating days of vintage Las Vegas. I love how Phyllis takes her reader back in time and allows us on her journey fueled by hunger and fanatism for that perfect combination of career and family. The lesson her book conveys is that when the chips are down, bet on you!”

What’s inside

Chapter 14

He watched. He waited. Tony felt for the pill with his right fingers……Everyone was busy in their own worlds. No one noticed as Tony took a deep breath and blew out in the direction of the styrofoam cup full of coffee covered only with a cocktail napkin. The napkin gently fell off the top of the cup. Tony passed his right hand over the cup like he was reaching for the napkin. A tiny pill fell from Tony’s fingers into the hot coffee. Tony proceeded to pick up the napkin and replaced it back on top of the coffee cup. If anyone did see him, it would look like he saw the napkin fall and he replaced it.

About the author.

Phyllis Carver was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, from her teen years. Many of the Bet On You experiences are tantamount to Phyllis’ own life.

Several of Phyllis’ occurrences throughout her adult life had been revealed to her early in her childhood. First, that she could always be counted on as a loving and serving daughter and sibling. Secondly, that she would marry her amazing “Glowing Man,” who showed up repeatedly in her youthful daydreams. Thirdly, that she would raise two wonderful, handsome and highly respected sons. Lastly, that she would become a Las Vegas cocktail waitress.

Phyllis’ fairytale-like marriage and motherhood faced serious challenges upon the return of her Glowing Man from the Vietnam War. It seemed as though he, and all of America, fell into a depressive state. Because of those difficult years, Phyllis swore all three of her men would become well educated to avoid any future possibility of the draft.

Her loving husband worked as an Electronics Engineer before his death in 2015. Her first born, Scott, earned a PHD in Biochemical and Biomedical Engineering. He is a loving husband to Claire and doting father to Annie, Gigi, and Carmela. Second born, Aaron, became a Structural Engineer, who loves his guitars. He is a loving husband to Cristi and doting father to Grace and Clark.

Phyllis still resides in Las Vegas, where a favorite pastime is snow skiing on Mt. Charlie. Her rescue dogs, Skipper and Benny are great little companions, leading Phyllis to declare that they have actually rescued her!
